Lunch Hour Concert: Preludes and Dances

20 Mar 2017, 1:10pm - 2:10pm

Alumni Kim Falconer (flute) and Eliza Sdraulig (cello) join Master of Music Candidate Michael MacManus (guitar) in a wide-ranging and exciting program of solo and chamber music. The program opens with Barrios-Mangore's entertaining 'Valse No. 4' for guitar, followed by 'Winter' for flute and cello by Harry Sdraulig, a lyrical and expressive work capturing the icy colours of the year's coldest months. Then, hear the virtuosic and angular edges of Muczynski's 'Three Preludes' for solo flute. To follow is the world premiere of a major new work for flute and guitar by Harry Sdraulig, commissioned by Joan and Barry Miskin. Then, enjoy Bach's much-loved 'Prelude' from Cello Suite No. 5. The program will round off with Villa-Lobos' rousing and vibrant 'Jet Whistle'.
