The University of Melbourne has launched the largest philanthropic Campaign in its 160-year history, seeking to raise $500 million by 2017. $10 million from The Ian Potter Foundation, Martyn and Louise Myer, and The Myer Foundation will go towards the exciting development of the Southbank Campus – using the leverage that philanthropy can provide to encourage government to work in partnership. Opera graduate Adam Lyon is about to get the break of a lifetime in his first professional production, as leading man for King Kong, due to open in Melbourne in June this year.  Watch this story from the ABC that takes him back to his hometown of Bendigo where his love of musical theatre began. The careers of eight recent Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (VCA&MCM) graduates are off to a flying start, having been awarded scholarships to help them develop links and projects with local arts organisations and established artists.

The community of scholars, musicians and artists at the VCA & MCM pay tribute to Dr Ravi Shankar as a musician, teacher and composer who was deeply admired and respected as the world’s most influential contemporary Indian musician. It is an honour to be able to help celebrate his musical legacy with our Ravi Shankar World Music Scholarship.

The Victorian College of the Arts is the biggest tertiary provider of cast to KING KONG, with both Adam Lyon (Carl Denham) and Chris Ryan (Jack Driscoll) being graduates, in addition to another six of the cast.
