Strictly Ballroom: Phoebe is dancing with the stars for good reason

After months of auditions, Phoebe Panaretos (Bachelor of Music Theatre, 2011) has been cast in the lead role of Fran for the stage version of Strictly Ballroom: The Musical. Directed by Baz Luhrman and designed by Catherine Martin, the production opens in Sydney in March next year. The Age reports.

Gyger wins Paul Lowin Prize

Elliott Gyger has emerged as winner, alongside Nigel Westlake, of the 2013 Paul Lowin Prizes. Gyger's winning work in the Song Cycle Prize ($15,000) category was giving voice (2012), a cycle of eight songs for mezzo-soprano and ensemble, based on Australian female poets' words about early childhood and parenthood.
