In an collaborative exhibition from July 26 to 5 September, graduate student artists from the VCA will transform the 130 year old Windsor into an installation art space, creatively using the hotel’s multitude of quirky spaces, including ceilings, lift wells, fireplaces, guest corridors, lights, windows and historic staircases.

The University of Melbourne has launched the largest philanthropic Campaign in its 160-year history, seeking to raise $500 million by 2017. $10 million from The Ian Potter Foundation, Martyn and Louise Myer, and The Myer Foundation will go towards the exciting development of the Southbank Campus – using the leverage that philanthropy can provide to encourage government to work in partnership. Dr Linda Kouvaras (Senior Lecturer in Musicology at the MCM) has just published Loading the Silence: Australian Sound Art in the Post-Digital Age through Ashgate. The book is the major outcome of an ARC Discovery Grant. After contextualizing experimentalism from its inception in the early twentieth century, the book explores the ways in which selected sound art works demonstrate creatively how sound is embedded within local, national, gendered and historical environments.
