Raimondo Cortese was honoured as the first ever recipient of the Patrick White Playwrights' Fellowship and Melissa Bubnic (Grad Dip Narrative 2005) was named the winner of the 2010 Patrick White Playwright Award, The Age reports.

Wordless, written and directed by Lisa Kappel at the VCA last year, has won the Silver Lady Trophy at the 2011 SoHo International Film Festival in New York. The short film tells the story of Martin, a boy born with only 2,000 words to use in his entire lifetime. More on portable.tv.

Graduate win at New York Festival

Masters graduate Kevin Chan, who came from Singapore to study at the VCA, has won the 2011 Gold World Medal in the New York Festival short film category for his VCA film Yours Truly (2009).
