ARC Discovery Project Grant awarded to Anne Marsh

Professor Anne Marsh has been successful in her recent application for a 2016 ARC Discovery Project Grant, providing three years of project funding of almost $200,000 for her project “Women, Feminism and Art in Australia since 1970”.  The aim of Anne’s project is to investigate the impact of feminism on contemporary Australian art and to critically interpret the history of feminism and its influence on the ways Australian society views representations of women across different cultures. Hundreds of women will have the opportunity to contribute to the project, revealing the roles and interactions between gender, race, class and ethnicity.

Elizabeth Lewis wins Opera Foundation Australia Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship

Master of Music (Opera Performance) student Elizabeth Lewis has won the prestigious Opera Foundation Australia Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship. She beat five other finalists on Sunday at a public recital at the Sydney Conservatorium to claim the $43,000 prize that will fund a study trip to New York for vocal, language and movement coaching. Dementia research fellowship awarded to Jeanette Tamplin

Music therapist Dr Jeanette Tamplin has received a major NHMRC ARC Dementia Research Development Fellowship for her project: “Choir participation to improve wellbeing and relationship quality for community-dwelling people with dementia and their primary care-givers.” Dr Tamplin is one of 76 researchers who will share in $43 million to support research to tackle the impacts of dementia and find ways of preventing and curing the disease.
