The Albert H Maggs Composition Award is provided as a commission for Australian composers for the creation of a musical work of a substantial nature.
The value of the award offered will be approximately $7,000 for the commissioned musical work, with approximately $3,000 performance subsidy also provided.

Criteria & eligibility
This scholarship is open to any Australian composer who has been a continuous resident in Australia for at least two years before the closing date for applications. Previous awardees are welcome to apply.
Applications will be assessed by a selection committee and should include:
- a list of works. Please see the Application process tab to submit.
- an overview of commissions, publications and performances. Please see the Application process tab to submit.
- a score and matching recording of ONE composition written in the last three years. Please mail a hard copy to:
The Dean, on the recommendation of the selection committee, will approve the recipient.
Award monies will be paid in two instalments with the first instalment being paid when the award is granted and the second instalment paid on receipt of the commissioned work, normally due within eighteen month of the award's presentation. The performance subsidy fee is paid once a performance is complete. Receipts for performance costs must be provided.
This award will be next available for application in July 2016.
